General Manager – California

The General Manager is responsible for the operational integrity of RESA’s California NETA Certified Testing and Engineering businesses and exceeding their assigned budget by generating profitable revenue growth through the development of new business, customer retention and product offering expansion to existing customer base.

This position is responsible for overall performance which includes sales, operations & P/L results. The primary focus of this position is to ensure that RESA is providing top tier technical and engineering services for our clients in a profitable and safe manner, ensuring customer sales calls activity is ongoing to build relationships with both new and existing customers, and that activity is generating revenue opportunities across all service lines. Duties include preparing strategic and action plans, performing research and analysis to improve market penetration and work with other RESA businesses to meet customer demand. Post-sale duties include ensuring field service personnel are trained appropriately and providing best in class customer service. Additionally, he/she will work with their direct reports to ensure company resources are scheduled effectively, operational and performing as planned and executing to assigned budget and that change orders are received as applicable. The GM also responds to internal and external customer concerns or problems, determines corrective actions, and ensures appropriate response and/or personnel meet commitments as assigned. This position is also responsible for ERP integrity, financial and operational reporting.

Duties include:

  • Find and generate new profitable revenue growth
  • Maintain and grow a book of business
  • Ensure the technicians and engineers on his/her team are technically proficient and are working safely
  • Track and drive sales and operational performance to objectives
  • Negotiate customer contract terms, conditions, pricing and commitments in alignment with RESA policy and standards
  • Collaborate with all team members to ensure an effective account relationship exists in all stages of the sales process
  • Work with internal departments to ensure service levels for all new and existing customers is operationally flawless.
  • Ensure operational excellence and financial targets are met for division
  • Maintain and develop 3-year strategy and continuous improvement plan for AOR

Work Experience Requirements:

  • 10 years as a supervisor or general manager for a Power Systems Field Services Organization (NETA Certification preferred) with full P&L responsibility
  • Multi –facility P&L management
  • Proven track record of exceeding budgets and hitting forecasts
  • History of building book of business from scratch
  • Proven experience with finding and closing new business
  • Experience managing 15 or more employees
  • Succession and employee development planning
  • Operational and commercial management
  • Proven personnel and remote team management skills that delivered customer satisfaction excellence
  • Fleet management and maintenance responsibility that ensured operational integrity
  • HSEQ, DOT, OSHA compliance and conformance that delivered an excellent safety record
  • Demonstrated project management skills in the area of employee, product and business unit integration
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Working knowledge of CRM
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
