PARC Delivers Emergency Transformer to Keep U.S. Landfill Gas Facility Generating 33.1 MW
From inventory to energized in weeks, avoiding multi-year industry lead times
In August 2025, Power Asset Recovery Corporation (PARC), a RESA Power Company, was called to an emergency transformer replacement for a client after sustaining a transformer failure.
Today PARC proudly announced they delivered and commissioned an emergency replacement generator step-up (GSU) transformer for a leading global producer of sustainable distributed energy after a failure at one of the company’s largest U.S. landfill-gas facilities. The asset enables delivery of 33.1 megawatts (MW) back to the grid, restoring output in weeks rather than the 4+ year lead times typical for new units of this class. Special thanks to Mark Hass, Missy, Amanda, and Todd Grace.
Project highlights
- Rapid technical match: PARC’s engineering team assessed site requirements and confirmed compatibility with a stocked 115-kV GSU transformer.
- Minimal downtime: With both common and specialty voltages in inventory, PARC dispatched a unit within days.
- Turnkey logistics: The ~100,000-lb, 15-plus-foot tall when loaded, transformer exceeded standard over-the-road limits. PARC secured super load permits, surveys, and escorts to haul from Texas to Rhode Island without delay.
- Expedited, cost-effective outcome: The transformer was delivered, installed, and connected within weeks of the initial call, restoring power generation that the client expected could be offline for years.
